BMS shares increase in dust in Barbados, issues alert

A plume of the thick dust haze is continued to affect the regions of Barbados, due to which the Barbados Meteorological Service (BMS) has announced a dust haze alert in the country.

Bridgetown: A plume of thick dust haze has continued to affect the regions of Barbados, due to which the Barbados Meteorological Service (BMS) has announced a dust haze alert in the country.

Such conditions not only affect the air quality but also pose a great threat to the marine areas in varying concentrations. Due to this, the skies are likely to be appeared slightly yellowish in colour during the day.

Noting this, the increase in the dust can reduce the visibility in the island and across the vicinity of marines. The persons with any respiratory issues or allergies are advised to travel with all the necessary precautions and relevant medications.

The Ministry of health is providing every update regarding the dust haze and its affects in Barbados. The BMS forecasts even said that there is high probability that these conditions are likely to affect the people for the next few days.

It is relevant to note that visibility is expected to be reduced to less than 10 km over the land and across the coastal water during this haze event. The advisory has been issued when visibility ranges between 5 and 10 km.

Today’s weather update

BMS shared that the people of Barbados may experience a partly sunny weather during the day and night will remain cool. As per synopsis, a ridge patter is the dominant feature of this forecast.

The winds across the Barbados will remain moderate, with easterly breeze from 30 to 35 km/hour, which is equal to 19 to 22 mph. there is eighty per cent probability of this forecast.

Furthermore, the marines are forecasted to remain moderate in the open water with swells ranging from 1.5 to 2.0 meters (5 to7 ft).

Additionally, mariners and seabathers are strictly advised to use on-duty lifeguards near beaches, especially when venturing into the water. They are also encouraged to be aware of and secure their objects that can be swept away in the water due to breaking wave activity.
