Bahamasair resumes flights to Cap Haitien after two week suspension

Bahamasair has announced the resumption of its flight operations to Cap Haitien, effective from Tuesday, 26th November, 2024. These services will continue after the suspension of almost two weeks, applied due to the security concerns.

The decision to resume the flight services was made by the Bahamasair following an advisory issued by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, allowing U.S. air carriers to restart their services to the country.

As per the details, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration conducted a thorough investigation before giving permit to their airlines to restart their operations. While shedding light on the decision taken by them, the authorities said that it was based solely on a satisfactory safety assessment, ensuring the security of all the passengers boarding the flight and its operations.

Along with that, the Bahamas Embassy in Haiti also gave an assurance to the Bahamasair to resume their flight operations to Cap Haitien. The authorities said that the airport and the communities have remained without incident before and after the disruption that occurred on 11th November, 2024.

Therefore, they have allowed and advised Bahamasair to restart their flight operations after making a proper evaluation and analysis of the safety measures.

According to the details shared by Bahamasair, they will resume their flight services from Tuesday, 26th November, 2024. The services by the airline to Cap Haitien will be available only on two days, Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Therefore, the authorities of Bahamasair have asked the passengers to book their flight services and for the ones who had already booked on the flight, their reservations are still secured in the system. Also, the seats are available for purchase for those interested passengers as well, who are seeking and wishing to travel to Haiti.

The Bahamasair also extended gratitude to all the passengers for being patient during these past two weeks of flight suspension. They have also apologized to the passengers whose flights were affected due to this suspension of the flight services. Therefore, they have ensured the affected passengers that they can have their reservations changed without any penalty by contacting the reservation center at 702-4140.

According to the details, the flight services across all the Haitian airspace were prohibited due to the escalating gang violence in and around the capital, Port-au-Prince. This suspension was imposed after armed groups targeted three commercial aircraft, striking them with gunfire.

Therefore, Bahamasair also suspended its flights to Port-au-Prince in the first quarter of 2024 and has not resumed them since. Meanwhile, Cap-Haitien has been functioning as the main international port of entry for travelers, and it has maintained a reputation for safety, making it the preferred choice for many.

Therefore, the Bahamasair took the decision of suspending its flight services to Cap-Haitien as well. Now when the flight services are all set to restart, it will be made accessible for the passengers to visit Cap Haitien. As, Cap Haitien also serves as a popular leisure and transit hub for travelers heading to other destinations in and out Haiti.
