Bassarath was the sole candidate at the end of the nominations, having been nominated by the Jamaica Cricket Association and Leeward Islands Cricket Board.

Azim Bassarath re-elected as Vice-President: Cricket West Indies

Azim Bassarath has once again taken over his duties and responsibilities as the Vice President of its Board of Directors of Cricket West Indies. He was re-elected on Friday, 20th September, 2024 during a Special Meeting of Members.

Bassarath was the sole candidate at the end of the nominations, having been nominated by the Jamaica Cricket Association and Leeward Islands Cricket Board.

While shedding light on the nominations for the role of Vice-President, Cricket West Indies stated that they were circulated as customary, and every Territorial Board, which constitutes the shareholders, was adequately notified. The meeting was attended by all the Territorial Boards except the Guyana Cricket Board.

After his re-appointment as the Vice President of Cricket West Indies, Azim Bassarath stated that he is excited to return to his duties for the betterment of the West Indies Cricket. He expressed his excitement on working alongside his dedicated colleagues once again.

He emphasised his vision to make every possible effort and innovation with a vision to provide the favourable and desired result that the shareholders and fans across the region and around the world are eager to see.

While lauding the exceptional contribution by the President of Cricket West Indies, Dr Kishore Shallow, he stated that since March 2023, they have made great strides together in one of the most popular formats of the game i.e. T20. He added that they are determined to continue to implement several strategies and innovations for the better results in the other two international formats as well.

Basarrath has ensured to continue to serve his duties and responsibilities with utmost level of integrity and transparency, while upholding the best governance practices.

At the close of the Special Meeting of Members, the President, Dr. Kishore Shallow extended gratitude to all the members for their participation. He once again encouraged all the stakeholders to work together in unity for the betterment and enhancement of the West Indies Cricket worldwide.

The next quarterly board meeting has been scheduled to take place on Saturday, 28th September, 2024 in Trinidad and Tobago.
