Bahamas experiences 33% growth in foreign air arrivals in comparison to 2022
This surge is considered as the largest year-over-year percentage growth compared with all other destinations in the Bahamas.

Bahamas: It is a huge development for the tourism as well as aviation sector of Bahamas, as it experienced a 33% growth in foreign air arrivals in comparison to 2022. This surge is considered as the largest year-over-year percentage growth compared with all other destinations in the Bahamas.
These figures have been shared by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Chester Cooper who lauded the ongoing efforts of his tourism industry. He shared that his administration is continuously striving hard to elevate the infrastructural development with a vision to enhance the island nation’s appeal and make it a premier destination among the travellers.
Moreover, the Minister of Tourism acknowledged the presence of well-developed resorts, amenities and Lucayan National Park and Port Lucaya Marketplace, and added such attractions have also played a huge role in attracting large number of tourists to the country.
The Deputy Prime Minister further shared that the tourism sector of Bahamas has series of planned projects coming which will further elevate the tourism sector of the country to greater heights.
While shedding light on the working of those projects, Minister Cooper shared that the construction has been approved to develop two Eden Hotels and Resort properties. He shared these properties will comprise 90 rooms, 150 suites, 500 villas, 120 townhouses which will offer plethora of amenities to all their visitors.
The Minister also talked about the Bluewater Lucayan Resort & Marina and stated that the work is undergoing in this project and will feature several amenities, ensuring their visit, a memorable and comfortable.
He also shared insights on the highly anticipated Six Senses Grand Bahama Resort and shared that it has been scheduled to open in 2026. The Minister added that this Resort is expected to change the tourism landscape by attracting large number of tourists, making Bahamas a premier destination in the Caribbean.
Minister Cooper continued to say that the resort will attract large number of travellers, diversifying Grand Bahama Island’s tourism offerings beyond its current range of resorts and attractions.
Moreover, the Minister also shed light on the expansion of the air services and stated that American Airlines is all set to introduce Sunday services between Charlotte and Freeport, which will be effective in November 2024. Along with that, the airline is also planning to bring back its seasonal service from Miami in October and will expand it from weekly to twice weekly a month later.
Along with that, Western Air will also launch its inaugural services between Fort Lauderdale and Freeport at the end of this month, with a vision to attract large number of tourists to the country. The Bahamas Air will also debut airlift between West Palm Beach and Freeport starting its services from 17th November, 2024.
Minister Chester Cooper reiterated his commitment to continue to plan innovative ideas and strategies with a vision to enhance airlift sector of the country to greater heights.
