Know Traffic changes in St Kitts and Nevis amid Sugar Mas 52
The Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force introduces traffic changes and the dates for which they are applicable. These traffic changes have been made in concern with St Kitts and Nevis Carnival “Sugar Mas 52.”

St Kitts and Nevis: The Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force introduces traffic changes and the dates for which they are applicable. These traffic changes have been made in concern with St Kitts and Nevis Carnival “Sugar Mas 52.”
Traffic changes are introduced for “Midnight Escape,” December 23, 2023. The changes are listed as follows:
- Fort Street will be closed to Vehicular Traffic
- Central Street will be closed to Vehicular Traffic (from Church street to West Independent Square street)
- Liverpool Row, from Delisle St to Fort Street will be closed to Vehicular Traffic.
- West Independence Square Street will be reserved for Taxi Parking.
- Vehicles Traveling on Church Street will be permitted to turn right onto Liverpool Row into College Street.
Also, the traffic signs will be posted to indicate restrictions. Another guideline introduced stated that people should avoid driving in Downtown Basseterre if possible. Rather, alternative routes and transportation modes should be opted.
Probing ahead, also some changes are introduced as of December 15, 2023. That are as follows:
- Bank Street will be closed to Vehicular Traffic
- Traffic will be allowed to turn right onto the Bay Road from West Independence Square street.
- Liverpool row will be reserved for Taxis only.
Significantly, these changes aim at the smooth celebrations of Sugar Mas 52 which has already started from December 16, 2023 and will last on January 2, 2024. Such traffic changes reveal the dedication of the government towards providing a safe and secure place to the people of the country to live in.
Shifting the focus on the details of Sugar Mas 52, the St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee (SKNNCC) announced the commitment to ensure the carnival harmonious. Further, the vendors play an important role for the better carnival experiences for both locals and visitors.
Considerably, the SKNNCC is diligently working to ensure the comfort and safety of all stakeholders, including pedestrians, business owners and vehicle traffic. The committee is completely committed towards creating an environment where everyone can enjoy the festivities in a harmonious manner.
