Roseau, Dominica: Trilla On De Mic has won the Calypso Finals 2023. The winner was announced out of the ten finalists who contested to win the event. The update was shared by the Dominica Festivals on social media on February 19, 2023. “For the love of #Kaiso! The 2023 Calypso Finals filled Carnival City with culture and music as ten finalists vied for the crown,” the post on the Facebook page mentioned.
Furthermore, Dominica Festivals congratulated the winner of the carnival and stated, “Congratulations to Trilla On De Mic for capturing the Calypso Monarch title with “De Boy Cut” and “Dick Taylor Ship”. He is our Calypso Monarch 2023.”
As per the update, this bouyon & kaiso artist defeated 2020 defending King JayDee during his first time in the Calypso Monarch competition.
Dominica Festivals further shared the list of the contestants who got a place in the competition.
1st runner-up: Dice
2nd runner-up: Daddy Chess
3rd runner-up: Bobb
In another post, Dominica Festival said, “Congratulations to Trilla-G for capturing the title of Calypso Monarch 2023! He competed with his two songs, “Dick Taylor Ship” and “De Boy Cut”.
Congratulations were poured by the winner of the Calypso Monarch 2023. “Congratulations Trilla G! BB Rum is a proud sponsor of this year’s Calypso Finals and is the official rum of Dominica Carnival 2023,” stated one of the Facebook users. Another mentioned, “Congratulations to you, my brother. Trilla-G.” The third one stated, “That’s it, my boy. Before, they would not crown a newcomer. That’s it.”
