The total active cases of COVID-19 are 4,609 in number out of which 15 have been recently reported, with 48 deaths recorded till present in Barbados due to the COVID-19 virus. No new death case of COVID-19 has been reported.
From the day pandemic hit Barbados, the health department have tested 2,44,284 people, out of which 4,609 were reported positive, out of which 2,245 were female, and 2,364 were male. Now 137 persons are under isolation.
In Barbados, 1,01,370 people received their first shot of vaccine and 87,710 have been fully vaccinated with getting 2 shots according to the present time. 32.4%population have been fully vaccinated
A total of 1,364 tests have been conducted in a single day.
The Pan American Health Organization and World Health Organization, during the rollout programme of the vaccine distribution, provided 33,600 doses to Barbados.
Till now, 1.5 Lakh doses of vaccine have been given to Barbados
WHO aims to provide 183,000 vaccines to the Caribbean island of Barbados.
The government gave their COVID-19 Hotline numbers for helping the citizens 536-4500 and COVID Monitoring Unit 536-3865 along with the data shared by the Health Ministry.
To combat COVID-19, Barbados has received 33,600 doses of Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccines under the COVAX facility from PAHO.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness’ Immunisation Unit has advised the public to take note of the vaccination schedule for the rest of the week.
The sites operating on Thursday, August 12, are Sandals Resort Conference Centre, Maxwell Coast Road, Christ Church; Building No. 2, Harbour Industrial Park, St. Michael; Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Mile-and-a-Quarter, St. Peter; the Art Gallery, Queen’s Park, Constitution Road, St. Michael; David Thompson Health and Social Services Complex, Glebe Land, St. John, and the Sharon Moravian Church Hall, Sharon, St. Thomas.
Barbados is set to receive its first shipment of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine on Friday, when a shipment of 70 200 doses from the United States arrives in the island.
The doses are among a total 837 000 which the United States government announced on Wednesday that it will send to Caribbean countries. Specialized syringes required for administering the Pfizer vaccine have also been donated.
