Alick Athanaze and Kavem Hodge to serve as Sports Ambassadors of Dominica

Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit felt delighted to announce the new Sports Ambassadors of Dominica – Alick Athanaze and Kavem Hodge.
Prime Minister Skerrit met with both cricketers on June 26, 2023 (Monday). He congratulated them both for their awe-struck and outstanding performances during the One Day International (ODI) Series against the United Arab Emirates earlier this month.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit congratulated the two sportsmen and wished them continued success in their cricketing careers.
“West Indies Cricketers Alick Athanaze & Kavem Hodge will be appointed Sports Ambassadors for the Commonwealth of Dominica. I met with the two cricketers earlier today to congratulate them on the recent successes in their cricketing careers & assure them of the Government’s support,” PM Skerrit tweeted following the meeting.
According to the latest announcement, the Government of Dominica will appoint both the West Indies cricket as the Sports Ambassadors. Reportedly, Athanaze and Hodge, after the official appointment, both sportsmen will be responsible for sports representation of the country.
The Government has announced that these two are selected as Sports Ambassadors following their outstanding performance in the Senior Men’s West Indies Cricket Team.
Alick Athanaze:
It is worth mentioning that Athanaze is the rising star player of the West Indies Men’s Cricket Team. He made his debut for the country on June 9, 2023, in the third ODI against the host. He scored a fifty in his debut match, which was praised by the cricket world.
Athanaze has made his nation proud at every level. He joined cricket and started playing for the Windward Islands in the year 2018. Athanaze was also selected as the skipper of Windward Islands after showcasing his talent.
Since then, there was no turning back; he became the leading scorer in the year 2022-203 Regional Four-Day Competition. In addition to this, he was one of the leading run-scorer of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2018.
Kavem Hodge:
Hodge entered the world of cricket in 2012 with his first-class debut for the Windward Islands. He was also the highest and leading scorer of the Regional Super 50 tournament for the Windward in the year 2019-2020.
During the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Hodge represented St Lucia Zouks, and he made his international debut against UAE on June 4, 2023.
