37 individuals tested positive for COVID in Dominica

According to the data released by the Dominican Health Ministry, a total of thirty-seven fresh COVID-19 infections have been recorded on the island as of Friday, December 3, 2021.

According to the data released by the Dominican Health Ministry, a total of thirty-seven fresh COVID-19 infections have been recorded on the island as of Friday, December 3, 2021. 

Out of these recent cases, 36 individuals tested positive by Rapid Antigen Testing while one tested positive with RT-PCR test, taking the total toll of the active COVID-19 cases to 400. 

The report by the health ministry further shows that around 31 COVID-19 patients were discharged from the hospital facilities. A total of forty-two patients lost their lives to the deadliest mutant to date. 

Since the outbreak emerged, the island recorded 6086 confirmed COVID-19 infections, while a total of 5644 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the virus and are discharged now, as per the data shown in the report of the health ministry.  

Till now, a total of 110,635 COVID-19 tests have been conducted throughout the hospital facilities of Dominica, out of which 29743 were the RT-PCR tests, and 80892 were the Rapid Antigen Test.  

COVID-19 vaccination coverage rate of the island: 

According to the data, so far, there are a total of 28898 individuals who have received their first jabs of the COVID-19 vaccine, whereas a total of 26876 individuals are those who have taken their required number of the WHO-approved doses and are now fully inoculated against the contagious virus.  

Earlier this month only, the island has received a large number of facial masks from the People’s Republic of China in its response to the COVID-19.  

The health ministry furthermore cautioned the citizens, asking them to strictly follow the COVID-19 health protocols and guidelines established by the government while also urging them to eradicate their vaccine hesitancy and take their shots of the vaccine as soon as possible.
