The final for the CG United Super50 Cup 2024 ended in a tie following the interruption caused due to heavy rain.
Following this, both the Barbados Pride and Jamaica Scorpions were declared as the co-winners.
The final of the tournament took place at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Saturday, with fans filling the stadium. However, the inclement weather disappointed fans on both the ends, causing them to leave without witnessing a ball being bowled at the ground.
Explained: Why the Match Ended in a ‘Tie
The Windies Cricket Management waited for several hours for the weather to improve, however, they found no sign of hope.
Following careful considerations, the match was declared as a “tie” with both teams being named co-winners of the CG United Super50 Cup 2024 final.
They gave the time for the toss to be 6:00 pm, as informed to the captains and management of both the teams, aiming to start the game by 6:17 pm.
Despite the allowance by the umpires and referees for the game to initiate, the captains of both the teams, i.e. Barbados Pride and Jamaica Scorpions, refused to take the play to the ground and abandoned the game. This resulted in no conclusion for the game and as per the rules both the teams in the finals were declared winners.
CG United Super50 Cup 2024
CG United Super50 Cup 2024 is a domestic 50 over tournament which was played in the West Indies from 29th October, 2024 to 23rd November, 2024. This tournament was held between 8 teams, including Trinidad & Tobago Red Force, Guyana Harpy Eagles, Windward Islands, West Indies Academy, Leeward Islands Hurricanes, Barbados Pride and Jamaica Scorpions.
The CG United Super50 Cup is a regional tournament which is conducted with a vision to foster the local talent, giving them a platform to showcase their skills, talent and techniques. The tournament is also a great opportunity for the players to display their best in order to make their place in the West Indies International Cricket team.
Jamaica Scorpions
Jamaica Scorpions has been one of the most successful franchises of the CG United Super50 Cup. They have 8 titles to their collection with now one shared with Barbados Pride. The Scorpions played 7 matches in total, out of which 4 went in their favour with 1 being booked for a loss. The remaining 2 of the leftovers ended with results being a draw.
They earned a commanding victory over Leeward Islands Hurricanes in the semi-finals by 107, earning their respectable place in the finals.

Barbados Pride also played 7 matches in this tournament, out of which 4 games went in their favour and 2 booked for losses. Meanwhile, the remaining game ended in a tie. They made their place in the finals with their impressive victory over Trinidad and Tobago Red Force, winning the game by 153 runs.
