Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister and leader of the People’s Labour Party, Dr Timothy Harris, has recently hosted the Official Opening of the PLP’s Peoples Vision Centre in Constituency 6; during which he introduced candidates from the constituency.
In the ceremony, Dr Mark Williams was introduced as the candidate for constituency6 and appealed to vote for him during the upcoming general elections.
Furthermore, Prime Minister promised that the government would drop the Value Added Tax (VAT) if PLP will be elected by the people of St Kitts and Nevis. While announcing the decision, PM Harris highlighted that his political party wanted the Federation to be a debt-free economy, free from IMF.
He also stated that VAT would be dropped in the next term to stabilise the country’s economy as soon as possible.
PM Harris was quoted saying, “The election will be a straight fight between old Denzil Douglas and his party and the party which stands for the future of the country. The people who work for progress, the people who want job creation, the people who want a debt for the economy, free from IMF, the people who want debt to drop, I shall drop the VAT in our next term, so as soon as the economy stabilised.”
Prime Minister further condemned Douglas and stated that the VAT is part of Douglas’s legacy; Douglas bankrupted the country and went to the IMF. He also mentioned that Douglas begged them for two-hundred and thirty million dollars to keep the country running.
Prime Minister Harris applauded Dr Mark Williams and stated that he had a vision to develop the people of constituency 6. He mentioned, “He is one of the best candidates for No 6. My head is blessed to welcome Dr Mark Williams as, after 34 years of Denzil Douglas, he is the perfect choice for the people of the No 6.”
He praised Williams as an exceptional leader who will wholeheartedly serve the people of constituency 6 of St Kitts and Nevis.
“Constituency 6, it is time to choose someone who will fight for you. Vote for Dr Marc Williams for the secure future you deserve. And for the economy, protections and jobs you need,” PM Harris added.
