Castries, Saint Lucia: The Government of Saint Lucia received a sum of $6.32 million from the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF) to benefit the tourism projects in Micoud, Castries, and Dennery. The Prime Minister, Philip J Pierre, recently finalized a funding agreement with CDF on Friday.

Such investment will enhance tourism in the indigenous communities and develop the country’s unique and special selling proposition. The community-based tourism project will promote the island’s rich cultural heritage.

The official Facebook handle of the Office of the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia made an announcement regarding the project and displayed PM Pierre’s vision to advance the tourism sector.

“Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre has finalized a funding agreement with the CARCOM Development Fund (CDF) to support a range of community-based tourism projects in Micoud, Castries, and Dennery”, the office added.

Further, it will foster the visitor’s or travellers’ experience and offer various economic opportunities for local communities. The ‘Community Tourism Agency Saint Lucia’ took to its social media handle (Facebook) to update the public regarding the project.

“This round of funding will be utilized to support a range of community-based projects in Micoud, Castries, and Dennery,” stated the agency.

This investment is expected to support local entrepreneurs in increasing their supply and boosting their economy. As Saint Lucia is considered best for travelling, the tourism sector discovers unique offerings, opportunities, and growing businesses that will result in sustained livelihood for all its citizens.

In January, CDF Credit Risk Abatement Facility (CRAF) provided an amount of US $122K in Technical Assistance to almost thirty-four Small and Medium Enterprises in Saint Lucia in the form of renewable energy assessments, energy audits, and the preparation of bankable proposals.

Such support will boost the spirit of local businesses to contribute to the development of their nation. Saint Lucia tourism is also making efforts to promote adventure or employment opportunities in the country.
