Saint Lucia: Atlantic Rally for Cruisers begins with participants from 38 nations

The 2024 Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) officially began on Sunday, 24th November, marking a great start to the world class sailing event hosted in Saint Lucia. The fleets representing sailors from around 38 nations departed from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

This 39th edition of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) featured around 850 skippers from 38 nations boarding 141 vessels, all made their way to the finish line at IGY Rodney Bay Marina. As per the details, the vessels firstly departed from Castries Harbor at 10:00 am and then arrived in Pigeon Island.

After making a remarkable arrival, all the vessels created a vibrant display, forming a full circle in the bay and showcasing the brands sponsoring their voyage along the coast from Reduilt to Pigeon Island.

According to the information, all the ships actively participated in this journey except four additional vessels that were delayed due to the technical issues. These vessels are expected to join the journey in the coming days, participating and making the most of this commemorative event.

The organizers of the 39th edition of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers expressed excitement on the official start and said, “The emotions of start day. We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve waved goodbye! And now the adventure has truly begun!”

The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority said that this is not just a race but a celebration of sailing, exploration, and community. The authorities shed light on the official start of the rally and said that they have offered an unforgettable experience to everyone, whether a person was an experienced sailor or a first-time participant.

They said that they are committed to make every person’s journey memorable with their exceptional services and offerings as they navigated together in the heart of the Caribbean.

As per the details, Saint Lucia was represented by Board Director and Head of the Marketing Committee at the SLTA, Thomas Leonce and Maritime Tourism Officer, Denise Mauricette in Las Palmas.
