Premier Mark Brantley toured the field hospital at the Alexandra Hospital grounds on Monday and lauded the team working in the health department of Nevis for their efforts in strengthening the healthcare sector of the country.

Premier Mark Brantley toured the field hospital at the Alexandra Hospital grounds on Monday and lauded the team working in the health department of Nevis for their efforts in strengthening the healthcare sector of the country.
While sharing the glimpses of his visit to the hospital, Premier Brantley stated that this critical medical unit was erected as a practical demonstration of the health emergency response plan. He was accompanied by several Cabinet colleagues and stated “We toured the field hospital which was erected by our team as a trial run and which we have in the event of a national disaster or health emergency.”
These Field Hospitals are usually equipped with beds, privacy screens, toilets, shower, electricity and several other essential features. All these facilities are designed with a vision to provide immediate medical treatment to the patients.
They also serve as temporary facilities when the main hospital becomes compromised during a disaster or unforeseen situations.
For the same, Premier Mark Brantley especially mentioned Jahnel Nisbett and her entire team for ensuring that Nevis continues to develop its health sector and its critical human and physical infrastructure.
He stated that their efforts are a testament to the unwavering commitment and dedication of the team towards ensuring the continued growth and resilience of the island nation in difficult or challenging times.
The temporarily erected field hospital is a collaborative exercise between the Ministry of Health and the Nevis Disaster Management which was supported by the Public Health Maintenance team, Alexandra Maintenance team with the supervisory assistance from the Public Works Department.
This joint exercise aims to enhance the country’s preparedness in the event of an emergency. It is an initiative that outlines the commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of all citizens in times of crisis, strengthening the nation’s capacity to respond swiftly and effectively.
Moreover, Jahnel Nisbett also shared glimpses of her visit to the hospital and lauded the team for their commitment, and called it truly “a team effort.” She stated that in this effort, all hands were required on a deck to safeguard the lives and livelihood of the citizens of St Kitts and Nevis in the event of a disaster.
For the same, she acknowledged her team at the Ministry of Health and all the workers across various departments who contributed in any capacity to ensure that they were prepared and able to respond swiftly in the event of an emergency.
Nisbett also extended gratitude to the U.S. Government who donated two such field hospitals to the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis through its Southern Command.
