PM Terrance Drew attends closing ceremony of LAMAT Mission 2024, expresses gratitude

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew attended the closing ceremony for the US Air Force Southern Command Lesser Antilles Medical Assistance Team (LAMAT) 2024 mission in St Kitts and Nevis. The mission aimed to provide free healthcare services and training to patients with the motive to promote healthy lifestyles among the federations. 

The US Air Force Southern Command Lesser Antilles Medical Assistance Team (LAMAT) 2024 mission was held from 18th March to 26th March 2024 and the final stop of the mission was conducted at St Kitts Marriot Resort. On the final day provided, the medical staff provided health care to more than two thousand patients.

The mission witnessed 43 US Air Force active duty and reserve airmen who provided several services to the patients that included, audiology, ophthalmology and emergency medical services. Notably, several specialists from the Republic of China also worked along with the professionals, enhancing healthcare services in the Federation.

The leader of the nation, Dr Drew extended heartfelt gratitude to the US Air Force, medical staff and every person who played a crucial role in making this mission possible and for providing assistance to the citizens of St Kitts and Nevis.

“A heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this mission possible – from the incredible team on the ground to our partners and supporters,” noted PM Terrance Drew.

PM Drew also mentioned the benefits that St Kitts and Nevis will receive in the field of medicine and healthcare by building a partnership with the Lesser Antilles Medical Assistance Team. He also added that the LAMAT 2024 Mission is another positive step in the journey of St Kitts and Nevis towards becoming a sustainable island state.

Moreover, the closing ceremony for the LAMAT 2024 mission was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Denzil Douglas. Dr Douglas shared glimpses of the ceremony and lauded the medical professionals who provided critical healthcare services to pre-selected patients in the Federation.

Also, the local medical staff were provided with valuable training sessions with a vision to empower skills and knowledge among them.
