Castries, Saint Lucia: The Prime Minister, Philip J Pierre, addressed the Federation on the eve of New Year 2024. It is to be noted that he also mentioned the construction work of St Jude Hospital.
This year, the government of Saint Lucia will continue work on the construction of St Jude Hospital to deliver a well-equipped hospital to the public.
Moreover, the work on four buildings is expected to be completed by June 2024, and the work on other buildings will commence shortly after.
Notably, while giving an address, the leader of Saint Lucia also mentioned that the government secured 200 million for the reconstruction of St Jude Hospital (SJH).
Additionally, last year in January 2023, the Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, as well as the member of parliament serving for Castries South, Ernest Hilaire, read the report of the Reconstruction Project Review Committee of the SJH, which the government of Saint Lucia tabled.
Noting this, he took to his official Facebook handle to share a glimpse of it.
“Today at our Sitting of Parliament, we tabled the report of the St Judes Hospital Reconstruction Project Review Committee. My government is committed to delivering health care to the people of the south and Saint Lucia as the wider community”, stated Minister Hilaire while reading the report.
A landmark achievement for Saint Lucia’s Healthcare Sector
St Jude Hospital took to their official Facebook handle to share the achievements of their health care sector. In November, through support from the World Bank-funded Health Systems Strengthening Project, a team of medical experts from Accreditation Canada visited the laboratory at the new site.
Notably, the aim was to guide the space design and layout to support a workflow that meets international standards.
Under this new agreement, SJH is hosting its second site visit from the Accreditation Canada team early in the new year. During the visit, the Accreditation Canada team will speak with staff, volunteers, patients and families to gain a better understanding of our care practices and the new ways of working that will be required at the Augier site.
It is to be noted that this will further serve as an inspiration for other healthcare institutions under construction in our region to capitalize on a roadmap to accreditation as part of its commissioning of new services.
