St George’s, Grenada: The Office of the Prime Minister of Grenada has extended warm wishes on the occasion of Indian Arrival Day and International Labour Day on May 1, 2023 (Monday).
While wishing the general public on Indian Arrival Day 2023, the OPM Grenada shared historical information about the event. It noted, “Every year on this day, May 1, we celebrate the rich history and cultural contributions of the Indian community to our beautiful island nation —from food to music, dance, and customs.”
Furthermore, it noted that all the Grenadians honour the legacy of the first East Indian indentured labourers who made Grenada their home many years ago and acknowledge and appreciate the sacrifices and achievements of Indian brothers and sisters towards the development of the Grenadian society.
“Today, we invite you to take a moment to reflect on the strength, along with the resilience of our diverse community and the ways in which our unique cultures continue to shape and enrich our nation,” it expressed.
While concluding the wish, the Office of the Prime Minister mentioned, “Wishing you all a joyful and memorable Indian Arrival Day!”
In addition to this, they also extended warm wishes for Labour Day 2023. “On this Labour Day, we, on behalf of the people and government of Grenada, take a moment to express sincere appreciation for the invaluable contributions that labourers have made to our society. From building the infrastructure that connects us to one another to ensuring that we have access to essential goods and services, your tireless efforts and unwavering commitment have driven the growth and prosperity of our nation,” it asserted.
Through the social media post, it also conveyed that as the world celebrates Labour Day, “let us renew our commitment to working together towards the creation of a society that values the dignity as well as worth of all workers. We will continue to speak for fair wages, safe working conditions, and equal opportunities, ensuring that your contributions are fully recognised and valued.”
“Once again, we extend our wishes to all diligent workers. Happy Labour Day!” it stated while concluding.
