West Indies seals series by 2-0 against South Africa with one game to spare

West Indies won the T20I series against South Africa with a 2-0 lead by winning the second match by 30 runs. The second game took place on Sunday at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy and secured the Twenty20 international series with a match to spare.

Following the remarkable win by West Indies in their first T20I series against South Africa, the second game was a match to keep their eye on. As, a win for the West Indies would seal the series. Meanwhile, a win for South Africa could have pushed the series to a decider.

However, Romario Shepherd and Shamar Joseph delivered crucial bowling spells and played a huge role in stealing the victory from the South Africans as they lost the last 5 wickets on just added 14 runs. It easily allowed West Indies to claim the win by 30 runs.

Notably, the toss was won by South Africa who chose to bowl first and West Indies set the target of 180 runs, scoring 179 with the loss of 6 wickets. Shai Hope and Rovman Powell remained the significant run contributors for the team, scoring 41 and 35 runs in 22 balls played by each.

West Indies smashed 13 sixes in its innings, with 4 hits by Shai Hope and three by Rovman Powell. Moreover, when South Africa came to bat the openers gave a good start by scoring 57-0. However, despite a strong start, South Africa was all out for 149 runs.

The bowlers of West Indies showed displayed brilliant performance through their bowling. As, Akeal Hosein and Gudakesh Motie gave the significant breakthroughs to the team when they sent Tristan Stubbs and Donovan Ferreira back to the pavilion respectively.

Afterwards, Romario Shepherd and Shamar Joseph were handed over the duty to finish it off and by showcasing their skills and abilities, Shepherd was able to take three wickets by giving away 15 runs and on the other hand, Joseph also got his career best spell, claiming 3 wickets for 31 runs.

Moreover, West Indies have one more battle on Tuesday to clean sweep the series by 3-0. The game will be played on 27th August at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium, Trinidad and Tobago. Following the remarkable performances by the players in the first and second game of the series, the Cricket West Indies management are optimistic about the second game and is hoping to win the game by 3-0.
