Weather Update: Tropical Waves just over 300 miles east may hit Grenada

St George’s, Grenada: Forecasters at the Meteorological Office at the Maurice Bishop International Airport continue to monitor the westward-moving Tropical wave.
At 8 am, the axis of the central Atlantic tropical wave was along 56W south of 16N, which is approximately 333 nautical miles east of Grenada. It is moving westward at 15 kt.
The Tropical Wave is expected to produce cloudy to overcast conditions, enhanced rainfall and gusty winds across the Windward Islands, including Grenada, on Sunday.
Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique can expect partly cloudy conditions with occasional showers on Sunday morning. Cloudiness is expected to increase during the afternoon, with heavier rains and possible thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds. These conditions can improve or deteriorate over time.
Severe potential impacts of the wave’s passage are flash flooding, landslides and rock fall. Citizens and residents are reminded that, “Preparedness is Key”.
NaDMA, through the Meteorological Office, will continue to monitor the system and provide timely updates.
