The construction of the much-awaited project of Grenada, Windward Jetty is expected to start mid-December 2024.
This information was shared by the Minister for Carriacou/PM affairs and local Government, Tevin Andrews through his official Facebook account.
While revealing the 3D-model designs of the project, Minister Andrews termed it as their “plan for the Windward Jetty. Boots on the ground.”
Benefits of Windward Jetty for residents
This new jetty project will play a huge role in addressing the transportation challenges faced by the community members.
Along with that, this new jetty will see fishermen especially those involved in long line fishing being properly accommodated to land their catch and purchase ice from the fish centers.
Shedding light on this project, Minister Tevin Andrews said that he takes pride as a Member of Parliament to see how his island is transforming. He added that these projects will play a significant role in contributing to the development of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
He added that they are marking several preparations which are underway to construct a jetty for the dedicated fishermen of Windward and its neighbouring areas.
“This exciting development not only provides them with a new fishing center but also a brand-new jetty,” stated Minister Tevin Andrews.
Other significant ongoing projects in Carriacou and Petite Martinique
Minister Andrews also highlighted about other developmental projects including, Windward Fishing Center, lockers and referred their progress ‘smooth’.
He reiterated his commitment to seeing all the ongoing projects through to the completion. The Minister further aimed at continuing to make efforts with a vision to play a pivotal role in the growth and prosperity of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
The Minister added that he is extremely grateful for all the opportunities, aiming to make a positive impact through these initiatives and looking forward to their successful implementation for the benefit of all residents.
Projects to foster several opportunities
The Minister of Carriacou, Tevin Andrews noted that the construction of the jetty as well as the completion of other projects will play a significant role in improving the aesthetics of the island as well as creating income earning opportunities.
He added that the construction process of these projects will create several job opportunities for the citizens, addressing the unemployment gap in the nation.
Minister Andrews asserted that they are committed to enhance the overall growth and development of the nation as well as elevating the economy conditions of the country to greater heights.
