Antigua and Barbuda is expected to welcome 40,000 visitors throughout the week, aiming to bring a major footfall.
Starting the December Cruise month on a high note the island nation has witnessed the arrival of more than 11,000 visitors.
Shedding light on it, the authorities stated that this is the best start to the upcoming festive season that they have anticipated for.
Antigua and Barbuda welcomed 11,000 visitors on Dec 1
Antigua and Barbuda kickstarted the December month with a bustling day for the cruise industry, bringing more than 11,000 visitors to the nation aboard the scheduled vessels.
The five vessels that berthed at the St. John’s Harbour included, Arvia which marked its second seasonal visit to the country, bringing 5219 passengers. It was followed by Carnival Venezia, bringing 4062, Oceania’s Vista with 956, Viking Sea, carrying 502 and Explorer 2 with 372 passengers.
Meanwhile, Barbuda welcomed the Star Flyer on the same day which brought more than 100 passengers to the island nation.
All the passengers boarded the vessels received a warm and prestigious welcome upon their arrival. The tourism authority of Antigua and Barbuda also extended gratitude to the vessels and all its passengers for choosing the island nation as a part of their cruise journey.
Huge boost to the local economy
The arrival of thousands of visitors turned out to be significantly beneficial for the taxi operators as well as local businesses.
As per reports, these local businesses served a total of around 11,256 guests, which helped them to generate a significant revenue, promising a vibrant boost to their local economies.
The authorities said that they are looking forward to witness continuous growth in both the tourism and economy sector of the country, aiming to solidify Antigua and Barbuda’s position as a premier Caribbean cruise destination.
Tourism Authority committed to promote Antigua and Barbuda
Emphasizing on the tourism sector of the country, the tourism authority of Antigua and Barbuda said that they are looking forward to welcome large number of cruise vessels to the country.
While focusing on the natural beauty and diverse offerings of the nation, the authorities said that whether a traveller is visiting for the first time or returning to relive the magic, Antigua has something to offer to every one.
They reiterated their commitment to foster the vibrant culture and promote the tourism sector of the country, making the stay of all the cruise visitors ‘unforgettable’.
“Antigua’s clear blue waters and sandy shores await as you step off the ship and into the heart of the Caribbean,” said Antigua Cruise Port.
