Antigua and Barbuda welcomed four cruise ships on Friday, bringing more than 12,000 passengers to the island nation.
The vessels including MSC Virtuosa, Norwegian Breakaway, Norwegian Escape and Seadream were docked at the shores of Antigua and Barbuda simultaneously.
While extending welcome to the captain, crew members and the passengers, the Antigua Cruise Port said that it is truly privilege for them to host these magnificent vessels and their guests at the port.
Passengers onboard the vessels enjoyed and explored the pristine beaches, lush rainforests, cascading waterfalls and vibrant culture and tradition of the twin-island nation.
Showcasing Antigua and Barbuda’s vibrant culture
The passengers of the vessels were welcomed with lively music, steelpan performances, fun, and joyful moments, making their visit to the country ‘unforgettable’. The Antigua Cruise Port and Heritage Quay bustled with energy, excitement and unforgettable moments.
The local citizens donned in colourful attires presented a beautiful dance performance and showcased the rich cultural heritage of the country.
The tourism authority called it a perfect day of music, fun and discovery. “We’re thrilled to see our port bustling with energy and creating memorable experiences for all.”
Busy day for taxi operators and local businesses
The 4-ships day at Antigua Cruise Port turned out to be significantly beneficial for both taxi operators and local businesses. It was a great opportunity for the local businesses to showcase, sell and promote their locally produced goods.
Meanwhile, the taxi operators were busy in transporting passengers between ports, giving them a chance to generating immense amount of revenue.
The tourism authority of Antigua and Barbuda noted that each passenger disembarked from MSC Virtuosa, Norwegian Breakaway, Norwegian Escape and Seadream represented a chance for the local businesses of the country to thrive and survive.
Connecting international visitors with Antigua and Barbuda’s culture
The Tourism Authority asserted that these visit by 4 cruise ships would play a significant role in bridging the gap and connecting the beauty, culture and hospitality of Antigua and Barbuda with around the globe.
They noted that these frequent visit by the vessels shed light on the growing reputation of the country as a must visit destination in the Caribbean region.
