We enjoyed music, ambience; says Melissa Skerrit as she attends Jazz’ n Creole Festival

Roseau, Dominica: Melissa Poponne-Skerrit – Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development and Parliamentary Representative of Roseau Central, has shared a glimpse of the celebration from Dominica Jazz N’ Creole 2023. She shared a bundle of all-smiled photos with her husband and Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, all the attendees of the Festival.

With all these photographs, Minister Melissa Skerrit shared a joyful caption. “Dominica Jazz N’ Creole 2023! We had a wonderful night and enjoyed the beautiful music, art, and ambience,” the social media caption read.

All the photographs were praised by people, and the love was showered by many. One of the social media user named, Carol Buntin, commented, “All I can say is wow, beautiful, and gorgeous.” Yet another named Mava Harry stated, “Absolutely gorgeous!” and the third one, named Julia Alleyne, said, “Great picture.”

Dominica’s Jazz’ n Creole Festival celebrates the fusion of Jazz and Creole Music, food, culture and tradition. Every year, the Festival is celebrated during the month of May or June. This year, the nation will witness the 12th edition of the Festival and the people, who are Jazz enthusiasts and music enthusiasts, will dance to the beats of various local, national as well as international Jazz and Creole artists.

Each and every Dominican waits for the Festival to come as it arrives with the spirit of oneness and brings people closer for some fun and happy times.

Jazz’ n Creole Festival 2023 will also gather many artists, and as per the update by the Tourism Authorities, artists will be as follows:

• American hip-hop duo Black Violin,
• Haitian American singer Phyllis Ross,
• Island jazz collective combination of jazz musicians from Martinique, Guadeloupe and Dominica,
• Dominica’s own Signal Band and Swinging Stars.

Dominicans moved their legs on the musical beats during the Fringe Events between April 23 and 30, 2023. As many as 14 events were hosted by the Tourism Ministry of Dominica to mark the commencement of the Jazz’ n Creole Festival.
