Trinidad and Tobago: Sports Ministry organises Community Mediation Services Division Virtual Men’s Symposium

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: Ministry of Sport and Community Development of Trinidad and Tobago has recently stated about the recently organised Community Mediation Services Division Virtual Men’s Symposium.

As per the update, over 60 participants joined the Virtual Men’s Symposium was organised on June 20, 2023. Earland Kent, Deputy Permanent Secretary, welcomed the participants and emphasised that the purpose of these workshops is to provide attendees with a safe space to learn something new, vent about difficulties, and surround themselves with positive people who will help them reach their full potential.

Further, it was informed that in her feature address, Angela Edwards, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sport and Community Development, stated that this Men’s Symposium reflects the Ministry’s acknowledgement that men encounter challenges and that men both desire and deserve support in becoming the best versions of themselves. She stated, “Even the title of our first workshop, “The Myth of the Invulnerable Man”, is a signal to all that we know the truth. No human being passes through this life without experiencing challenges and pain and needing support to achieve their goals.”

The Ministry of Sports further mentioned that the first workshop kicked off with Tracey Bunsee, Senior Crime Analyst, on “The Myth of the Invulnerable Man”.

As per the reports, the symposium ran until June 22, 2023, with day two being facilitated by Amilcar Sanatan, Assistant Director, and Gender Affairs Division, on the topic “Consent-Getting it Right”. The symposium concludes with the 3rd workshop on “Accessing Support for Success” by Kwasi Cudjoe, Coordinator Male Programmes and Gender Affairs Division.

In conclusion, it outlined that the public must register for the initiative. “Those who wish to participate in this virtual event over the next two days are asked to register via https://docs.google.com/…/1aaJzvBVEMV9w2C-T-o…/edit,” the post by the Ministry stated.
