Trinidad and Tobago records surge of 46% visitors in 2023/2024 cruise season

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Arts of Trinidad and Tobago witnessed a surge of 46% passengers in the 2023/2024 cruise season compared to the last year.

Trinidad and Tobago: The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Arts of Trinidad and Tobago witnessed a surge of 46% passengers in the 2023/2024 cruise season compared to the last year. The season started on 11th October 2023 and ended with the maiden voyage of the luxury vessel Island Sky on 17th April 2024.

The influx of a large number of passengers to the island nation created a positive impact on the tourism sector of the country, which directly resulted in the enhancement of the economic conditions of the nation. The development in economic conditions plays a huge role in enhancing the stability and security of the nation which further prevents any kind of collapses faced during unforeseen circumstances.

“Trinidad and Tobago celebrated a highly successful 2023/2024 cruise season, marked by increases in passenger arrivals, tour participation and economic impact”, noted the Tourism Ministry of Trinidad and Tobago.

As per the data shared by the tourism ministry, the number of visitors who disembarked at the ports of the island nation via cruise ships was 177579. These passengers got an opportunity to explore the unparalleled and magnificent beauty of the island nation. They were also provided with several amenities which made their visit memorable and comfortable.

The tourism ministry bids farewell to the 2023/2024 Cruise season on a high note as the country welcomed 98 vessels to the island nation, including 6 cruises that made their inaugural visit to the shores of Trinidad and Tobago.

Out of all the cruises, 36 vessels made their visit to the shores of Port of Spain, 51 cruises made their calls to Scarborough and 11 cruises were docked at Charlotteville. According to the reports, the number of passengers recorded in Port of Spain includes 78,051 passengers and 99,528 in Scarborough and Charlotteville.

The surge in the tourism sector of Trinidad and Tobago created several job opportunities for the local citizens of the nation which gave them a platform to promote and sell their local goods. It also created a surge in several sectors of the nation such as hospitality, transportation, restaurants, hotels and many more, leading to generating revenues for the development of the nation.
