St Kitts and Nevis: Cabinet Members celebrate 41st Independence Day with school visits and joyful interactions
The Members of the Federal Cabinet of St Kitts and Nevis embarked on the first in a series of visits to schools on Thursday, September 5th, 2024, with a vision to celebrate the 41st Independence Day.

The Members of the Federal Cabinet of St Kitts and Nevis embarked on the first in a series of school visits on Thursday, September 5th, 2024, with a vision to celebrate the 41st Independence Day. The delegates interacted with the children, shared several stories of the national heroes, and guided the children to always follow the path of righteousness in their lives.
The visit was led by the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, who was accompanied by several other Cabinet members. The members who joined him in their visit include the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Dr Geoffrey Hanley, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Denzil Douglas, Minister of Sports, Samal Duggins, Minister of Energy, Konris Maynard, Minister of Tourism, Marsha Henderson, and many others.
The schools visited by the Ministers include, SKI Academic, the Cayon Primary School, Violet Petty Primary, Joshua Obadiah Williams Primary, Cotton-Thomas Comprehensive at the Estridge Campus, Edgar T. Morris Primary, Saddlers Primary and the Dieppe Bay Primary School.
While sharing the glimpses of his visit to the school with other members, PM Terrance Drew shared that his experience of interacting with the children was truly exhilarating. He added that the experience has filled him with great hope knowing that they are the future of the nation.
PM Terrance Drew exchanged warm hugs with the children and brought smiles to the faces of students and teachers. The Minister also conducted several activities for the children and gave them the opportunity to dance along with them.
“This reinforces my conviction that every life is precious,” noted PM Terrance Drew.
During his visits to the schools, PM Terrance Drew promised to continue to make efforts to build a society where every child can flourish and reach their full potential.
Moreover, the Minister of Public Infrastructure, Konris Maynard also shared his pictures meeting with the children. He stated that it was truly heartwarming experience for him to see the smiles on the faces of both students and teachers, and to witness their enthusiasm as they celebrated their nation’s independence together.
The Minister of Sports, Samal Duggins, also called it an interactive engagement with the children. He stated that the visit became more meaningful by connecting with the young minds who will carry St. Kitts and Nevis forward.
He added that engaging with the future leaders, creatives and sports icons inspired him a deep sense of pride, knowing that the strength of our Federation lies in their hands.
Minister Samal Duggins continued to say that the energy, passion and potential of all the children reflect the togetherness and resilience that define them as a people.
Notably, the preparation for the 41st anniversary of St Kitts and Nevis’ Independence day has started. This year the day will be celebrated under a theme “Together, a People, Proud and Strong: Independence 41.”
Under this theme, the Prime Minister aims to unite every citizen together for a month which is filled with enthusiasm, pride and a commitment to a build a stronger and united future.
