St Elizabeth police charges man for sexual offences against minor

A man was arrested and charged with child molestation, sexual assault and rape of a 11-year-old minor girl by St Elizabeth Police.

Kingston, Jamaica: A man was arrested and charged with child molestation, sexual assault and rape of an 11-year-old minor girl by St Elizabeth Police. As per reports, this horrific incident took place between February 2023 and July 2023.

According to the police statement, the accused is identified as Damion Jones, also known as ‘Potto.’ He is a resident of Bernard Hill, a district in Pisgah. 

If sources are to be believed, it has been said that the victim filed a case against Potto for assaulting her, which had been occurring for several months to which the authorities acted immediately by arresting the accused.

He has been charged with multiple offences, such as grievous sexual assault and rape. The head of the St Elizabeth Police, Acting Superintendent Coleridge Minto, is leading the case.

During the investigation, case officer Minto stated that Potto is a repeat offender who committed similar offences before, as several cases have been put up for review, which includes files that date back many years.  

Jones is currently in police custody in St Elizabeth. The investigating officers encourage the citizens of the parish to come forward with any information and assist them in their investigation. 

The law enforcement officers expressed their dedication and ensured justice for the girl child who had suffered from these horrifying situations.

The public around the country took to their social media handles (Facebook) to express their frustration and concern regarding the spike in such heinous crimes. 

While reacting to the news, a person named Camillie Forrester commented, “Mighty god why the dirty man never go looked him age my god what can an 11 year old do satisfy a big man needs them should just do jungle justice honestly wicked boy.”

Another FB user, by the name of Audley Philip wrote, “This buggery thing seem to be getting quite popular in the news recently. It’s really outrages to hear how frequent these disgraceful things are happening to our boys. Before, parents were more liberal in letting their youngsters out, but it’s like no sex is immune from these monsters. What a crazy world.”

The authorities are advised to take strict action against the criminals who are involved in such crimes. Sexual assault on anyone could lead to mental and emotional damage to the victim.
