Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: Scarborough Criminal Investigations Department (CID) arrested a man in possession of a revolver and four rounds of ammunition. He was remanded into custody, and his sentence is awaited until April 4, 2024.
As per reports, the suspect was identified as a 35-year-old Bruce Mc Clean. He is a fisherman by profession and resides near Main Road at Mason Hall.
According to police, the officers of Scarborough CID conducted an anti-crime exercise on March 14 at Mt Grace near Main Road in the surrounding areas of Harmony Hall Junction. The exercise was spearheaded by Sgt Jonas of CID.
During the exercise, they observed a male who looked suspicious to them. Noting this, the suspect was proceeding towards the east along the road. He had sported a black strap bag slung across his chest. The officials became aware and they approached the man.
The investigating officers started questioning him about the bag he had carried. In due course of time, the suspect tried to escape the place. However, he was chased and immediately arrested by the police.
Further, the officers asked him to hand over his bag, and while searching, they found a wooden handle .38 revolver with four rounds of .38 ammunition. Clean was immediately taken into the police custody.
The reports stated that he was virtually presented before Master Sarah De Silva on Monday. However, he will be given his sentence on April 4.
Such crimes are not happening in the country for the first time, as people are experiencing similar incidents on every alternate day. Recently, the officers of Morvant Police Division discovered a black Taurus pistol with ten rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition in an empty lot of land.
Additionally, such stances of crimes put the security and sovereignty of the nation and its citizens at risk. With rising crimes, people are urging authorities to take serious actions and implement strict rules to combat the spike in criminal activities in T&T.
