Castries, Saint Lucia: The owner of the Castries-based dog adoption organisation – HelpAWS has shared an emotional post on social media, announcing her second pregnancy. While sharing the good news with her extended family, she noted, “When we’re young, time seems infinite, and we rarely open the shutters of our minds to truly contemplate what life might look like 10 or 15 years down the road. When we’re in our 20s, the thought of being in our 30s seems like an eternity away. The reality of being a life partner, a parent, and having a demanding career can’t even begin to resonate until we find ourselves in the midst of it, wondering where the time went.”
She further stated, “The past ten years have slipped like sand in an hourglass. One minute there, and the next minute was gone.”
Furthermore, the owner of HelpAWS said that she finds herself feeling extra emotional when she reflects back to the beginning of HelpAWS and how far the organisation has come. How many people get to realise that their childhood dream has become a reality? It has been hard – sometimes even unbearable – but also all that she ever hoped for in every way. The fact that the volunteers have matured so much and have impacted so many lives, canine and human, is something she will always be proud of. “I’m so thankful for everyone who has taken this journey with me and supported HelpAWS along the way. I know that none of this would have been possible without you,” she conveyed.
She recalled her first pregnancy and said, “When Talin was born, I couldn’t wait to get back to work. I had been a surrogate mom to thousands of animals over the years, but being a mama to another human was foreign and overwhelming. In hindsight, I wish I had known how to just be in the moment because the moments go by in the blink of an eye.”
“Now, as I leave Saint Lucia again to give birth to our second child, I feel like I am in a much better headspace. I have the confidence and comfort of knowing everything is going to be okay. HelpAWS has an army of the amazing staff, volunteers, supporters & donors who help us fight and save lives every day, which gives me the confidence to spend this priceless, cherished time with my sweet Talin before his sibling is born and with my new family of four after the new little one comes along,” the post further informed.
While concluding her message, she said, “I’m so very fortunate and grateful to have our extended HelpAWS family, and although you may not see much of me on social media for the next several months, know that I appreciate this life I get to live so much and recognise that every single moment is precious, no matter where we are.”
