Saint Lucia: HelpAWS appealed the people living in Canada and the United States of America to become flight parents.
The organisation took social media and stated that as the temperature have dropped and winter is rolling in, are you dreaming of relaxing on a warm, tropical beach, rather than shoveling snow and scraping ice off your car windows?
If someone is planning to head to Saint Lucia in the near future, we could really use the help! Each winter, the airlines implement cold embargos that prevent the organisation from sending the pups via cargo to the waiting foster or adoptive families in Canada and the US. This can cause quite a backup at the shelter, as healthy, adopted pups end up having to remain on the island longer than necessary and organisation is unable to take in new babies who desperately need the help.
“The only way we are able to get pups home during this time is to find flight parents who are willing to take a pup home in cabin with them and save a life at the end of their holiday in St. Lucia. If you think you can help, or know someone who could, reach out to us at info@helpaws.com or DM us! Even if you don’t know someone, share this on your social media in the hopes of finding someone who can help!” it further asserted.
HelpAWS added, “We handle all necessary paperwork including adding the pup to your reservation as a carry on – in cabin, as well as all the necessary essentials needed and cover the cost! We deliver the precious cargo to you at the airport on the day of your flight. Then, you’ll be met at the airport in your destination city by the adopter, foster, or a HelpAWS volunteer who is waiting to receive them.”
The pups are world class travellers that pretty much sleep through the entire flight, and past flight parents have raved about how easy the process is and how good their “special cargo” has been during the flight.
It concluded, “We’re happy to share our beautiful island, cool waters and warm sunshine with you, and all we ask is that you help us give a sweet, deserving pup a lift on your way home!”
