Dominica: The government of the Caribbean country – Dominica has shared an update on the search for the young girl – Kernisha Etienne. The shores of the country recently welcomed a French team and a sniffer dog.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, while welcoming the team, stated, “We welcome the French team, which has arrived with a sniffer dog to assist in the search for missing Kernisha Etienne, who was abducted from her home on Tuesday evening.”

A total of 105 officers have been deployed to conduct the search for missing Etienne. The searches are ongoing in Warner, Springfield, Layou Park, Belfast, Belles, Syndicate, Sylvania, Sultan and surrounding areas.

During the search, a belt, one slipper, a one-night gown and a teddy bear believed to be that of Kernisha Etienne were recovered in the Warner area. Several drones have been utilized in the search, and a tracking dog is currently being used in the search.

The Government of France supported the operation by providing the services of a helicopter. The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force has been receiving support from various government agencies, the private sector and members of the public.

The Police Force continues to solicit the support of the public in the search and rescue efforts of Kernisha Etienne.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit was briefed at the Command Center last night upon his return to Dominica. The Prime Minister had been attending the Ninth Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles, California.

Prime Minister Skerrit announced that all resources necessary to aid in the search for Kernisha Etienne would be made available. He called on all able-bodied public officers to avail themselves of the Command Center to be part of the search and rescue efforts.

Prime Minister noted, “I was briefed by the police at the Command Center in Warner upon my return to Dominica last night. The search for Kernisha Etienne continues this morning, and I have asked all able-bodied public officers willing to join the effort to report on this matter.

I ask that you keep Kernisha and her family in your prayers.”
