St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Terrance Drew visited the road rehabilitation project currently going on at St Peter’s Main Road on Wednesday. This visit was scheduled to get an update on the progress made at the construction site.
PM Terrance Drew during his visit expressed his pleasure while noting the rapid progression made at the construction site. He highlighted that, “I am pleased to see the progress being made.
This rehabilitation is part of the government’s efforts to continue progress in St Peters as it was denied by the previous administration.
The construction for this road was initiated in January 2024 with an approximate budget of $31 million. The roads under this project will be built to provide smoother transportation and travel for commuters.
The roads are designed to fit sidewalks along them to aid easier transit and it has been ensured that the roads meet international standards in terms of safety.
Prime Minister Drew, earlier in a roundtable meeting in May noted that the project is designed to create an infrastructure that not just supports the present but the future as well.
He further added, “It is not just throwing down asphalt … this is a comprehensive plan to transform that road network so that St. Peter’s can be able to grow.”
It was also revealed that the project will also include several infrastructural developments including the addition of roundabouts, upgrading drainage systems, and introducing a modern infrastructure that would benefit the community of St Peters in the future.
The project has been managed by the Public Works Department and they are actively looking forward to a timely completion of the project.
Apart from the ongoing construction of the road at St Peter’s, the government also aims to foster more advancements in the road sector including the development of Stone Fort Heights, Shadwell Boyds, Lodge Project, Palmetto Point, and others.
Notably, the timely completion of the project will aid the locals in commuting better across St Peters and connecting communities.
