Over 2,000 Queen Mary 2 passengers disembark in St Kitts and Nevis

St Kitts and Nevis kicked off their 2024-2025 cruise season on 8th October, 2024 with the arrival of the World’s Largest Cruise Ship, Icon of the Seas.

Over 2,000 Queen Mary 2 passengers disembark in St Kitts and Nevis

More than 2,000 passengers of Queen Mary 2 ship engaged in different activities in St Kitts and Nevis on Monday.

The massive vessel of Cunard line docked at the Port Zante, bringing the major footfall in the capital city. The guests received a warm welcome upon arrival in the country. 

Shedding light on the arrival of RMS Queen Mary 2, the tourism authority expressed their desire for enhancing their relation with the vessels and are hoping to continue witnessing the visit of several such vessels in the coming months.

Queen Mary 2 to Return in January 

The cruise vessel is again scheduled to come to St Kitts and Nevis at the beginning of the New year. With over 36 nights in the Caribbean, the Queen Mary 2 will again be setting up for a voyage starting January 11, 2025.  The ship will depart from Southampton, UK and cover 12 different destinations including St Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Grenada, Dominica, Barbados, Curacao and St Maarten. 

St Kitts and Nevis kicked off their 2024-2025 cruise season on 8th October, 2024 with the arrival of the World’s Largest Cruise Ship, Icon of the Seas. The vessel initiated the 2024-2025 season by docking at Port Zante, marking the beginning of what is hoping to be a busy cruise season.

Notably, Queen Mary 2 is the only active, purpose-built ocean liner which is still in service and is known for her style and elegance. The vessel sails regular transatlantic crossings between Southampton and New York City.

It is also one of the longest cruise ships in the world which measures around 345 meters in length. The vessel is considered as one of the most spacious ships at sea, with 14 decks of lounges and bars, shops, and sports and even a seagoing planetarium.

Target of 1 Million Passengers

The Minister of Tourism, Marsha Henderson said the Federation hopes to welcome 1 million cruise passengers to the country for this season. 

Minister Henderson said guests can experience authentic Kittitian culinary delights, cultural folklore performances.

She said that the tourism authority is dedicated to foster the rich cultural heritage of the nation and immerse the visitors in the vibrant culture and traditions of the country.

Steps taken by Tourism Authority

The Tourism Authority of St Kitts and Nevis has been taking several significant efforts with a vision to bring growth and development in the cruise industry.

Recently, the Prime Minister, Terrance Drew and Minister Marsha Henderson engaged in strategic discussions with representatives from Royal Caribbean Group and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings.

The meeting was conducted with a vision to promote economic growth and community development.

Minister Henderson said that they are making efforts to contribute to the overall development and sustainability of the country, aligning with their agenda of making St Kitts and Nevis, a Sustainable Island State.
