Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew promises to continue to invest for the development of Cayon High School with a vision to provide access to all the amenities for both students and teachers.

Recently, the Prime Minister made his visit to the Cayon High School on Wednesday, 28th August to see the first-hand work being done in order to get it prepared for the 2024-2025 academic year from Monday, September 02.

In his visit to the school, he was accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister who also holds the portfolio of Minister of Education, Dr Geoffrey Hanley. Both the delegates greeted all the workers and appreciated them after seeing the progress of the work in the school.

While sharing the glimpses of his visit to the Cayon High School, the Prime Minister Terrance Drew stated that the minor remedial work continues on the facility to ensure it is in a state of readiness for the school year.

“Today, I visited the Cayon High School with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, to see first-hand the tremendous work being done to get the school ready for the school year,” noted Dr Terrance Drew.

The minor works that are currently taking place at the school include the installation of doors and windows, and painting of certain areas to remove graffiti.

On the other hand, the works that have been done on the school includes, the installation of new railings and the modernisation of bathroom facilities. Along with that, the majority of the school was also outfitted with new furniture which has been brought by the authorities in significant amount, ensuring the comfortable learning for the students and teaching for teachers.

While emphasising on the investment made by the government in Cayon High School, PM Drew stated that they have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars to replace doors, windows, railings and to rid the school of mold.

This is the largest sum invested at any one time at the Cayon High School in over a decade. PM Drew noted that they will continue to invest for the development and of education sector of the country and create a healthy and developed environment for student’s academic success and overall well-being.

Moreover, recently, the Ministry of Education held a back-to-school ceremony at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort to signal the commencement of the New Academic Year 2024-25.

The Deputy Prime Minister extended gratitude to all the teachers for their roles in educating and shaping the futures of the nation’s children. And, he promised to continue to work and invest in order to give the future of the country a “comfortable place for learning” so that they can thrive and grow.
