PM Pierre extends financial contribution to Marchand Football League executive
Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre hosted a handing over ceremony of kits and monetary donations to the Executive of Marchand Football League with the motive to promote sports among youth and enhance their skills and techniques.

Castries, Saint Lucia: The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre hosted a handing over ceremony of kits and monetary donations to the Executive of Marchand Football League with the motive to promote sports among youth and enhance their skills and techniques.
With this donation, PM Pierre has shared his vision of creating a platform for young athletes to promote sports development and turn the aspirations of youth into reality.
“During the week, as the Parliamentary Representative for Castries East, I had the pleasure of hosting a small ceremony to hand over kits and a monetary donation to assist the teams, to the Marchand Football League Executive as they continue to volunteer their time to the community and sports development,” mentioned PM Philip Pierre.
PM Pierre has also ensured that his administration will continue to provide financial contributions to the young people of the nation. He has promised to create a platform for young individuals to turn their hobbies into entrepreneurship and skills into business.
“Let us support our youth in these noble pursuits,” noted PM Pierre.
Notably, Saint Lucia commenced the Semi-Professional Football League at Mindoo Phillip Park. Two games were played on the first day of the league. The league started with the match between Marchand and Babbonneau and the next game was scheduled to take place between Gros Islet and La Clery.
This Semi-Professional Football league will play a pivotal role in providing opportunities for all the players to display their skills, talent, abilities and creative minds.

Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Ernest Hilaire also attended the commencement of the league and expressed his excitement about the same. His attendance marks his unwavering commitment and dedication towards promoting sports among youth in order to improve their physical and mental health.
The Minister also greeted all the teams’ players and appreciated their brilliant displays of game. He said, “It feels good to be attending the start of this semi-pro league and Arsenal sitting at the top of the Premier League table.”
Result of the first two games of the Semi-Professional Football League
Babonneau Football Club defeated Marchand Football Council by a score of 1-0. The goal scorer from the winning team was Malyk Athanase who scored a goal in the second-half stoppage time.

Meanwhile, the second game of the day and the league was conducted between Gros Islet Football Club and La Clery Football Club. The game was won by Gros Islet by a score of 1-0. Baggio Edward scored a winning goal for his team in the 5th minute of the game.
