PM Drew meets Didier Trebucq, highlights UN Country Implementation Plans

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Terrance Drew shared glimpses of his meeting with Didier Trebucq, serving as United Nations Resident Coordinator for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, on Tuesday.

During the meeting, they discussed the ideas for the development of a new UN Country Implementation Plan for the next two years, which will strengthen the ties between the UN, St Kitts and Nevis.

It is to be noted that PM Drew took to his official social media handle (Twitter) to share his delight in the collaboration between both nations.

“Today I was pleased to meet with Didier Trebucq, United Nations Resident Coordinator for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean. We discussed the collaboration between the UN and St Kitts and Nevis and the development of a new UN Country Implementation Plan for the upcoming two years”, added the leader of St Kitts and Nevis.

Apart from PM Drew, other representatives who joined the table were Naeemah Hazel- The Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, Bjorn Hazel- Senior Foreign Service Officer, and Uzumma Erume- An economist and Development Coordination Unit Officer at the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office among others.

Trebucq was accompanied by Cosbert Woods, who is serving as the UN Country Coordinator for St Kitts and Nevis.

The meeting covered a range of important topics which shed light on the shared commitment of both to address the challenges and foster mutual growth.

Moreover, the bilateral meeting is expected to have a positive impact on the development of both allies, underscoring the importance of international collaboration in advancing shared benefits.

Notably, this is not the first time that the prime minister of St Kitts and Nevis has met with UN delegates, but he has always shown interest in attending international meetings.

Further, the United Nations and the government of St Kitts and Nevis have strengthened their partnership and commitment to work together to build resilience and recovery, including during the COVID crisis.
