Olympic Champion Julien Alfred receives heartwarming welcome, fans beam with pride and joy

Saint Lucians boom with pride and excitement as they welcomed their double Olympic medallist, Julien Alfred. They flooded the streets to welcome home their Olympic hero, honouring a champion who carried the hopes and dreams of thousands of people on the world stage.

Notably, Julien Alfred made her way home stepping off American Airline flight 2295, to celebrate with her victory. She stepped out of the airplane, wearing both her medals. She clicked several pictures with her fans, gave auto graphs and truly celebrated her return to the country.

On her arrival at the Hewanorra International Airport, Alfred was met with a water cannon salute and a red-carpet welcome by the officials of the government. It was followed by a motorcade ceremony.

The entire nation united together to celebrate the incredible achievements of Julien Alfred. During the motorcade people turned out in large numbers, community by community, started cheering for the Olympic medallist, waiving flags with hearts swelled with pride.

The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J. Pierre called himself privileged and humbled to become the first person to welcome 10.72 seconds Olympic Gold Medallist, Julien Alfred to the land of her birth Saint Lucia.

He noted that Alfred’s recent achievements at the Olympic Games has played a huge role in transcending sport. He added she has become a huge source of inspiration to all Saint Lucians, especially the youth, that through hard work, dedication and self-belief, they can be among the best in the world.

PM Pierre noted that Alfred has given them a powerful reason to celebrate and to be proud of their home, Saint Lucia.

Moreover, the Olympic gold medallist Julien Alfred also extended gratitude to all those people who have support her. She also acknowledged her village members, family, her mom and the Government of Saint Lucia for supporting her in every step.

She added that there are several people behind her success who have guided her along the way and helped her to get to these points. “And I really just want to say thank you to all of you, even those I haven’t mentioned. I just want to say thank you.”

After this motorcade celebration, Alfred will attend the National Schools Rallies which will be held at the Soufriere Mini Stadium and the La Ressource Playing Field. This is a great opportunity for all the students to interact with the athlete and get some insight from the star athlete of Saint Lucia.

After that, she will be visiting the Ciceron Combined School for the unveiling of an Iconic Mural followed by significant announcements. On 27th September, Alfred will celebrate her own day, marked by the Government as “Julien Alfred Day,” a national holiday.
