No RT-PCR test will be required from November 15 for passengers visiting Cuba

President Miguel Díaz-Canel notified that from November 15 onwards, the travellers visiting the Caribbean island would not be required to present a negative RT-PCR test.

Havana, Cuba: President Miguel Díaz-Canel notified that from November 15 onwards, the travellers visiting the Caribbean island would not be required to present a negative RT-PCR test.

Although, the travellers would be needed to present their COVID-19 vaccination certificate to the authorities.

President Díaz-Canel asserted that till this time, 90 per cent of the Cuban population would also be vaccinated against the deadliest mutant.

He cited, “From November 15, when more than 90 per cent of our population will be vaccinated against the COVID-19, our borders will be gradually open and sanitary and hygienic protocols for arriving passengers will also be relaxed.”

Following the statement, President noted that “The passengers coming to Cuba will not be required to present an RT-PCR test, only a vaccination certificate is needed.”

The announcement was made by President Díaz-Canel during an online meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

According to the statistics, so far, there are a total of 929,000 cases of the deadliest COVID-19 virus. On the other hand, a total of 7,994 individuals have lost their lives to the contagious mutant.

Cuba is also the first nation in the world who is vaccinating toddlers with their homegrown novel coronavirus vaccines.

As per the vaccination rate, till now, 9,654,453 individuals, which is 85.2 per cent of the population, has taken their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

While, on the other hand, there are a total of 6,500,743 individuals that is 57.4 per cent of the Cuban population, who has received their second jabs of the vaccine and are now fully vaccinated.

In addition, the island will be receiving humanitarian aid from the Russian authorities before this year ends to help tackle COVID-19.

On Tuesday, the Russian deputy prime minister held a meet with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas.
