New Travel bubble implemented by the Barbadian Government

Travellers who have been arriving at Barbados from selected countries have to be in a travel bubble that has been established by the Barbados government to mitigate the effect of the COVID-19 virus in the country.

The travel bubble of Barbados would be allowing fully vaccinated travellers from Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Anguilla, Montserrat, Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba, St. Maarten, Turks and Caicos, Cayman Islands and Bermuda.

According to the protocols of the travel bubble, the travellers have to present a negative PCR test report before their flight to be exempted from further testing on arrivals and quarantine in Barbados. Chief Medical Officer, Dr Kenneth George, highlighted that the countries in the travel bubble had low COVID-19 positivity cases and low cases per 100,000 population every fortnight.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Kenneth George said that they had a system that has been used by Barbados to monitor the bubble countries, and if their fortunes change quickly, they would be soon removed from the bubble.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Kenneth George said that Barbados had also expanded its list of countries of concern and that persons, whether fully vaccinated or unvaccinated, who had travelled via or from the countries mentioned in the list for bubble travel within the last 21 days, might arrive in Barbados with a valid COVID-19 standard PCR test taken before three days of travel. The countries in the bubble countries list include Haiti, Angola, Argentina, Bolivia, Suriname and Kenya.

New COVID-19 cases and vaccination status updates were released by the Ministry of Health and Wellness of Barbados. The data shows that the total active cases of COVID-19 are 4,269 in number, with 48 deaths recorded till present in Barbados due to the COVID-19 virus. No new death case of COVID-19 has been reported.

From the day pandemic hit Barbados, the health department have tested 2,02,157 people, out of which 4,269 were reported positive, out of which 2,071 were female, and 2,198 were male. Now 151 persons are isolated.

In Barbados, 98,206 people received their first shot of vaccine and 73,427 have been fully vaccinated with having 2 shots according to the present time.
