Ministry of Health to tackle dengue with fogging exercise in St Peter and St Joseph

Bridgetown, Barbados: The Ministry of Health and Wellness continues to tackle the problem of dengue illness by following its fogging programme in St Peter and St Joseph this week. The ministry is collaborating with the Vector Control Unit for this exercise. 

As per reports, the ministry will commence mosquito eradication activities in the two parishes of Barbados from Monday to Friday. The authorities urged the public to cooperate during the exercise. 

Fogging programme Schedule

The Vector Control Unit officials are set to start the fogging exercise on Monday, covering various areas of St Peter and St Joseph. The following are the dates and times scheduled according to the locations. 

March 11, Monday
The team is scheduled to visit several districts of St Peter, such as Sweet Home Road, Mullins Terrace, Cemetery Lane, Battaleys Mews, Gibbs Road, Environs, Piedmont Road, Gibbs Glade, and Mullins Road. 

March 12, Tuesday
The unit officials will return to St Peter and fog Corbin Road, The Whim, Church Hill Road, Ashton Hall, Clarkes Road, Tom Bend Road, and nearby areas.

March 13, Wednesday
The Vector Control Unit will visit the districts for mosquito breeding activity in Graveyard, Collins, Diamond Corner, Date Tree Hill, The Risk, Boscobel, Castle, Environs, Gays, and Moore Hill.

March 14, Thursday
The fogging team will travel to St Joseph and spray Spa Hill, Saddle Back Road, Sugar Hill, Coffee Gully, Mellows Hill, Sugar Hill, Fruitful Hill, Chimborazo, and other neighbouring districts. 

March 15, Friday
The breeding exercises will be concluded at Braggs Hill, Environs, Wilton Road, Airy Hill Tenantry, and Paris Hill. 

According to the reports, the spraying exercises will take place from 4:30 to 8:30 pm daily. The public is advised to keep their doors and windows open to allow the fog to enter into their homes. This will make the work easy and help them to remove mosquitoes from their premises. 

Events beyond the Unit’s control may affect the mosquito breeding exercises, so the Unit will return to affected regions as soon as possible. 

Additionally, parents are urged not to allow their children to play outside their homes during the fogging to avoid illness and keep them inside their houses.
