St Kitts and Nevis: This year, Go Green as the officials of the country are contributing a lot towards fulfilling the objective of sustainable development. It is very simple that officials can introduce the policies and put forth all the efforts for the betterment of citizens. However, to follow them is the duty of individuals.
Certain actions taken in the daily routines can bring a great change to the country, those will not only benefit in supporting the sustainable agenda but also will contribute positively towards the climate action.
Even the little habits can lead towards development. Importantly, few of the actions listed below can help us living a better life.
Usage of Environment Friendly Materials
While shopping, keep in mind that the only products which are to be bought should be environment friendly. Such an action would solve half of the problem itself. Environment friendly and sustainably sourced materials such as natural fibers, recycling materials would contribute a lot towards a positive environment.
Water Conservation
This is one of the most important activities. If one has to comprehend it in very simple words, it can be understood that the water distribution takes energy and already the country is suffering from the issues like shortage of water.
This may be because of the decreased rainfall throughout the region. For the same, taking shorter showers and washing only full loads of laundry can play an important role. The installment of conservative showerhead and faucet aerators can help reduce water flow.
Home Gardening
The interesting part is that planting for own food at home is an old practice in the country, St Kitts and Nevis. Such an action would reduce the transportation of goods within the country which would further contribute towards reducing the harmful emissions which can harm the climate.
Follow 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle)
Reduce simply means creating less waste. Following the process of the 3Rs would undoubtedly act as an active participant in encouraging the people to step forward in keeping with the sustainable development agenda.
All in all, following all these would bring a very positive change and would foster a sustainable and healthy environment.
