Kerryne James, Tevin Andrews visit Limlair Solar Field, assess progress

St George’s, Grenada: Kerryne James, Minister for Climate Resilience, Environment, and Renewable Energy, and Tevin Andrews, Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government of Grenada, embarked on a site visit to the Limlair Solar Field to assess the progress of the forthcoming renewable energy project.

The Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs and Local Government made this announcement through its official social media (Facebook) handle.

According to the shared update, both Ministers expressed their utmost satisfaction with the work that has been accomplished thus far and reiterated their commitment to commencing the project as scheduled by mid-October of this year.

Minister James commended the dedication and expertise of the teams involved in the project, emphasizing the critical role it will play in enhancing the nation’s resilience to climate change and promoting renewable energy adoption.

She stated, “The Limlair Solar Field project represents a significant step forward in our pursuit of a greener, more sustainable future. We are fully committed to ensuring its success and look forward to the positive impact it will have on our environment.’’

Minister Andrews also stressed the importance of this project for the local community. “This endeavour,’’ he said, “not only promotes environmental sustainability but also promises economic growth and job opportunities for the residents of Carriacou and Petite Martinique. We are dedicated to ensuring that our local communities benefit from this venture.’’

As per the Ministry, in preparation for the project’s launch, announced that training sessions would be organized to equip individuals with the necessary skills to maintain and operate solar panels.

The Ministry has always worked at the forefront to grow and develop the countries. To date, the Ministry, along with the governments, have worked on many development projects and has assured that there are more in the pipeline. Promising the general public, it has mentioned that the ministers are always brainstorming so that the infrastructure of the nations can be uplifted.
