Japan removes COVID-19 travel restrictions from St Kitts and Nevis

Japan, St Kitts and Nevis: The Minister of Foreign Affairs has announced that from April 8, 2022, the Japanese Government has removed travel restrictions for St Kitts and Nevis.

The update was shared by the Government of St Kitts and Nevis. The update read, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is pleased to inform the general public that the Government of Japan has decided to remove Saint Kitts and Nevis from its list of countries denied entry into Japan to prevent the spread of the novel Coronavirus, as of April 8, 2022.”

The latest amendment in the COVID-19 travel restrictions of Japan came into effect on April 8, 2022 (Friday) at midnight (Japan Time).

Following the relaxation introduced by the Japanese Government, St Kitts and Nevis passport holders can travel to Japan without any hassle of COVID-19 testing or quarantine. However, the holders still require a visa to travel.

The travel restrictions were removed by the Japanese Government after St Kitts and Nevis started reporting less than five (05) COVID-19 cases daily. As of April 10, 2022, the twin-island Federation reported zero (0) COVID-19 cases and zero (0) deaths due to the deadly infection.

The number of active cases in the Caribbean country is five (5) until April 10.

The Land of the Rising Sun has also been planning to ban entry restrictions on 106 countries such as the UK, US, France and Canada. Currently, the travellers from these countries have to present their negative test within 72 hours of departure and must have received a third dose of the vaccine.

As per the COVID-19 guidelines, the nationals who do not qualify for entry in Japan should undergo a seven-day quarantine period inside the country.

Japan started welcoming the international travellers back in February sometime this spring 2021.
