Kingston, Jamaica: A taxi operator was reportedly robbed of and beaten by three men who were dressed as females, on Friday, August 2, at a house on Gerbera Drive in Mona, St Andrew.

During the robbery, the three men had brutally assaulted the taxi operator and thus on being caught were charged with robbery and aggravation. The accused apparently dragged the victim out of his car and pulled him into a dwelling house at the scene.

The assaulters also snatched away the operator’s cell phone along with other belongings. The trio supposedly burglarized the taxi operator of about $18,000 cash, a Samsung Tablet valued at about $10,000, and a Samsung Galaxy S20 smartphone valued at around $72,000.

The three accused in custody are namely:

Jovonnie Miller (26-year-old), also known as ‘Jade’, of Three Hill district.

Nickyle Hutchinson (19-year-old), also a cosmetologist, otherwise called ‘Tahlia’, of West Street.

Dwight Davis (23-year-old), alias ‘Kayla’, of Little London.

According to the police reports, the three accused were dressed as females as they boarded the taxi at the Cross Road bus park and appealed the taxi operator to drop them off at Gerbera Drive in St Andrew at about 7:30pm on Friday.

On arriving at the location, Davis allegedly pulled out a knife and held it around the operator’s neck and turned off the car’s ignition removing the keys. Later they dragged the victim into a house at the locality and severely assaulted him with a rigorous beating.

The victim being robbed of all his belonging and beaten to pulps, was thrown out of the house with just his car keys.

As the police were reported about the incident, they immediately launched an operation which was conducted around the described premises, making an arrest of all the three accused and were subsequently charged by the law enforcers.

A court date for the trial of the trio has not yet been finalized, the police stated, and updates regarding any further development will be notified.
