Antigua and Barbuda Falcons register their third victory of CPL 2024

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons won the third game of the Caribbean Premier League 2024, defeating Trinbago Knight Riders for the second time in the tournament by 6 wickets. The Riders faced defeat at their home ground, Queens Park Oval in Port of Spain on Thursday 19th September 2024.
This victory by the Falcons with one over spare have managed to keep themselves in contention for the playoffs. After winning the toss, Falcons winning the toss and decided to bowl first.
The momentum of the Trinbago Knight Riders started on a slow note as the openers, Shaqkere Parris and Sunil Narine could sum up to only 9 and 4 runs respectively. The star West Indies batsman, Nicholas Pooran also failed to showcase his explosive batting style against the Falcons and was caught out by Hassan Khan on Joshua James delivery.
Although, the top order faced early bummer, Keiron Pollard came out as a saviour scoring 47 runs in 37 balls with 4 sixes and 2 fours, playing a captain’s knock. Despite the powerful knock by the skipper, Polard, Falcons successfully managed to restrict Riders on 134 runs with 8 wickets down.
Justin Greaves powerful knock of 46 runs helped Falcons chased down the target just 19th over. He scored 46 runs, hitting 4 fours off 48 balls and then he retired himself at the death overs, giving opportunity to bigger hitting team mate to finish the game for the Falcons and leading them towards their third victory of the tournament.
Following the game, Kieron Pollard, the skipper of Trinbago Knight Riders expressed disappointment and stated that he is unhappy with the decisions he took. And, ensured all the fans of the Trinbago Knight Riders to keep the hard work going and bounce back stronger in the coming game.
Justin Greaves who was also awarded the Player of the Match stated that it is truly a special achievement. He expressed his happiness that their plans executed well for the team and added that this win could be a start of something new for them.
After the defeat against Falcons, Trinbago Knight Riders is still enjoying the second position in the points table. On the other hand, Falcons has a new ray of hope emerging of still having a chance to qualify for the playoffs.
