Ishona Charles and Tyler Smith to represent Grenada in Paris Paralympics 2024

Grenadian athletes Ishona Charles and Tyler Smith are all set to represent the nation in the Paris Paralympic Games 2024. The duo is aiming to make a huge impact in their respective competitions and clinch a medal for their country.

The 2024 Paralympic Games has been scheduled to take place between 28 August and 8th September 2024 in Paris. The French capital has hosted three summer Olympic games, but it will be the first summer Paralympic games for them.

For the same, they expressed their excitement and promised to make sure the event was filled with lots of beautiful memories for all the attendees. While sharing the motto for the Paris Paralympics 2024, the organizers stated that the ceremony would be a celebration along with a mixture of important messages.

The event will see more than 4,000 athletes from around the world competing in 549 medal events across 22 sports. Notably, the opening ceremony will take place with thousands of Para athletes from 180 international delegations parading down the legendary Avenue des Champs-Élysées to the Place de la Concorde.

Also, more than 150 dancers including many professional ones with disabilities will bring to life the opening ceremony with inventive, musical, and humorous choreography. The Paris Paralympics 2024 will take place at 20 exceptional venues.

Moreover, Ishona Charles and Tyler Smith have expressed their excitement to represent Grenada at the Paris2024 Paralympics. This would be the second Paralympic Games for Ishona following her debut in the 2021 Tokyo Games. She will be competing in the women F 46 Javelin and F46 shot put.

On the other hand, Tyler Smith will participate in the men' s shot put F43. As per the details, both the athletes are getting trained under the coaching of Bassanio Nicholas, who is the IAAF Certified Level one coach.

While shedding light on the athletes who will heading from Grenada for Paris Paralympics, the coach Nichols stated that he is extremely confident that Charles and Smith will perform with merit in Paris. He stated their work ethic and attitude were positive throughout the preparation program. Therefore, he is optimistic that they both will bring laurels to the nation.

Along with that, the Secretary of the Grenada Paralympics Committee, Alvin Clouden will lead the Grenada delegation as Chief of Mission. According to the details, Clouden will attend several meetings and functions in Paris as the General Secretary of the GPC with a vision to enhance friendly relationships with other sports federations within the Paralympic movement.
