The Cricket West Indies announced the 15-player squad for the highly anticipated ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Hayley Matthews has been announced as the Captain of the team who is ready to lead Women West Indies to this thrilling venture, aiming to claim the World Cup trophy.

The 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to be the ninth edition of the tournament. It was initially scheduled to be hosted in Bangladesh from 3rd to 20th October 2024. However, it has not been relocated to the United Arab Amirates (UAE) for the same dates due to the ongoing political unrest in Bangladesh.

While shedding light on the players selected for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, Miles Bascombe, the Director of Cricket West Indies, stated that they are extremely happy with the squad.

He added that they have selected a well-balanced team with a player who has a combination of experience and youth. He continued to say that they are optimistic that this will showcase their best talent on the international platform, with a vision to lead their team towards victory.

The players selected for the West Indies Women’s T20 Squad include Hayley Matthews, Shemaine Campbelle, Aaliyah Alleyne, Shamilia Connell, Nerissa Crafton, Deandra Dottin, Aly Fletcher, Chinelle Henry, Zaida Zames, Qiana Joseph, Mandy Mangru, Ashmini Munisar, Chedean Nation, Karishma Ramharack and Stafanie Taylor.

Notably, ten teams will compete against each other to win over the title of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. The 10 qualifying teams were divided into 2 groups of 5 teams. All the 5 teams in a group will play with all the others for a total of ten matches in each group and the top two teams in each group will advance to the knockout stage.

West Indies team have been placed in the Group B. They will have to win over Bangladesh, England, Scotland and South Africa to make their place into the semis.

The Head Coach, Shane Deitz also expressed his views on the selected squad and stated that they have selected the players who has a great potential. He added these women have shown great determination through the preparations.

The campaign for the team will begin on 4th October 2024 against South Africa at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. But before that, the team will have warm-up matches against India on 29th September 2024 at the ICC Academy Ground No, 2 Dubai. Their next warm-up match will be held against the defending champion, Australia at the Sevens Stadium, Dubai.

  • 4 October 2024: West Indies v South Africa, Dubai International Cricket Stadium
  • 6 October 2024: West Indies v Scotland, Dubai International Cricket Stadium
  • 10 October 2024: West Indies v Bangladesh, Sharjah Cricket Stadium
  • 15 October 2024: West Indies v England, Dubai International Cricket Stadium

The semi-final 1 will held on 17th October and the semi-final 2 on 18th October, with the final being played on 20th October 2024.
