Antigua and Barbuda marks 16.74% increase in Italian tourists arrival

The Tourism Authority of Antigua and Barbuda celebrated a huge milestone, recording a remarkable surge of 16.74% in the arrivals of Italian tourists to the twin-island nation from January to August 2024, welcoming around 229,275 visitors.

While shedding light on the growth witnessed by Antigua and Barbuda, the CEO of the Tourism Authority, Colin C James credited the participation of the country in the TTG Travel Experience.

This event was conducted in Rimini, Italy which allowed the tourism officials of the twin-island nation to reinforce its presence in the Italian market and strengthen its relationships with the local partners.

The tourism officials actively participated in the event and the delegates who represented at fair included, CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, Colin C. James and Director of Tourism UK & Europe, Cherrie Osborne at the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority.

The CEO, Colin C. James stated that this TTG travel experience was a great opportunity for them to introduce several new developments with the primary motive of strengthening the relationship between Antigua and Italy.

During the event, the delegates attended over 33 meetings with leading Italian travel agencies and tour operators. The CEO highlighted that 350 visitors were welcomed to their stand, confirming the growing interest in Antigua and Barbuda from the Italian market.

He added that Antigua and Barbuda was one of the only three Caribbean destinations to be present at the event. He therefore, called this event, the primary reason they were successfully able to make a huge impact at the largest business to business travel show held in Italy.

The CEO James also mentioned about the return of the Condor Airlines to Antigua and Barbuda. He stated that the restart of the direct and weekly flight services by the airline between Frankfurt and Antigua will play a huge role in offering convenient connections from several northern cities of Italy.

He added that these services would prove to be hugely beneficial to the European market, making travel to Antigua and Barbuda easier. “It is a great news for the citizens of Italy as the Condor Airlines has already confirmed, a high percentage of these flights are passengers connecting from Italy.”

Moreover, the CEO reiterated his commitment to continue to make efforts with a vision to enhance the nation’s appeal globally and attract a large number of travellers from across the world to the twin-island nation.
