Haitian- Americans arrested as suspects in Haiti’s president’s Assassination

The suspects have been arrested for the assassination of Haiti’s President. According to the statements of senior police officials, those 2 suspected are Haitian Americans. Out of them, one was a former bodyguard at the Canadian Embassy in Port au Prince.

Mathias Pierre, Haiti’s minister of elections, said that there was a Haitian American, James Solages was also involved in the assassination of the president with other six people who have been arrested in the Brazen. Mathias Pierre said that the other four others are from Colombia. According to the information given by the minister, the oldest suspect is of 55 years old and the youngest suspect, Solages, is 35 years old.

Haiti’s director of National Police, Léon Charles, said that the other 7 assailants had been shot dead in a gunfight with police.

The U.S. State Department said that they were aware of reports that Haitian Americans were in custody, but they did not have any confirmation.

Solages said that he had been a certified diplomatic agent, an advocate for children and a budding politician of a website for the purpose of charity which he established during 2019 in south Florida that was made to assist residents.

Witnesses said two suspects had been found on Thursday when they were hiding in bushes in Port-au-Prince by a crowd, some of whom clutched the men by their shirts and pants, crowding them and occasionally slapping them.

Police arrested the men, while he was sweating heavily and wearing clothes that look to be covered with mud. The crowd ran after them to the nearby police station to protect the suspect officers put them in the back of the truck and drove away towards the police station.

The crowd at that place started chanting, “They killed the president! Give them to us. We’re going to burn them!”

One man was overheard saying that it was unacceptable for foreigners to come to Haiti to kill the country’s leader, referring to reports from Haitian officials that the perpetrators spoke Spanish or English.

A Haitian judge who was involved in the investigation said Moïse was shot more than 12 times, and his office and bedroom have also robbed. According to the Haitian newspaper Le Nouvelliste. The judge noted that the investigators had got 5.56 and 7.62 mm cartridges between the gatehouse and inside the house.
