Haiti elected to Executive Council of UNESCO for 2021-2025

Haiti has been elected to the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization – UNESCO for 2021-2025, cited the Permanent Delegate of the island to the international organization – Dominique Dupuy.  

The elections were held during the – 41st session of the General Conference of UNESCO, where Haiti emerged as the winner. A total of 119 votes were in favour of the CARICOM member state out of 178 voting countries. This is the fifth time that Haiti has been elected to UNESCO’s Executive Council.  

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship – Claude Joseph asserted that “The permanent delegation of Haiti UNESCO wishes to – express, its gratitude to every member states who have supported Haiti and also to mark the immense work carried out by the Haitian government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the Haitian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO congratulates the Permanent Delegation to UNESCO, the Haitian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO and the entire team of the – Ministry of Foreign Affairs who made this great victory for Haiti elected“.
